Agenda Item: Fitness Trail
Presenter: Kelly Gerber
Discussion: Kelly reported that on May 8 a group meet to discuss the creation of an outdoor recreation area in the property surrounding the swimming pool. The plan for the fitness trail has been created and partially funded. The hope is to all build a playground and a water splash pad on the property. Jill Glover, of Luck Public Library, will help with writing grants to fund the project.
Agenda item: Downtown capstone project
Presenter: Chris Bartlett
Discussion: Chris and Kristina filled-in new members about the landscape architect’s (Saige) design that focuses on the downtown area. Chris said Nicki Peterson and Wade Vitalis meet with Village staff and Dan of SEH about including some of the capstone project plans details into a grant. The grant deadline is at the end of May.
Agenda item: Holiday lighting displays
Presenter: Kelly Gerber
Discussion: Would Grantsburg Lions club like some help with the displays in Memory Lake Park? There was also a suggestion to form a lighting committee, probably start it later- July or August. There was also a suggestion to start lighting the downtown roof lines of the buildings. Chris mentioned that we may be able to pay for County Highway Dep’t’s lift trucks to install the lights.
Agenda item: Community Center enhancements
Presenter: Cathy McCabe
Discussion: Cathy McCabe has discussed the funding project with the Erickson family. Dan Peterson will look at the awning project—he may build one.
Follow-up from May 1, 2018: Dan Peterson is not interested in doing the job. Cathy has asked D8 Products in Frederic to look at the building and come up with an awning design. Cathy also spoke to the Erickson family; they have approved the expenditures of a table, cement slab, an awning, a garbage can.
Village Clean-up Days
Presenter: Kristina Kelley-Johnson
Discussion: Clean-up days are scheduled for Friday, May 18th and Saturday, May 19th. Students from the National Honor Society, Grantsburg Library staff and Kelly Gerber will be volunteering on Friday. Friday volunteers should meet at the Public Library. They will work on the Village Pool shelter and at the Community Center/Village office. Ben said that Parker Hannifin employees will volunteer Friday. They will be working on the playground at Memory Lake. Kristina brought a draft flyer and plans to have a sign-up form on the GRO and village FB sites and websites.
