Agenda item: Update on CDBG Downtown project

Chris said he has a meeting with the contractors mid-July. He’s hoping they’ll be able to give him a start date, but right now he’s guessing that they’ll begin in late July or early August. Once the contractor determines the start date Chris will notify downtown businesses asap.

Agenda item: Village campground

Chris let us know that the village has approved hiring an engineer to design the campground to the north of the river.

Agenda item: Banners

Nicki has found a designer for streetlight banners for the downtown area. Kelly, Nicki and Cathy will be working with the designer.

Agenda item: Façade improvement project

Kristina heard from University of Wisconsin Extension, Todd Johnson. He’s waiting for about 10 more businesses to complete the survey. Nicki sent out an email to those on the list she has contact information for.

Agenda item: Community Outdoor Recreation Area

Kelly gave us a progress report on the COR project. The trail is complete, and the fitness equipment comes in next week. Deano Schultz will be heading up a team of volunteers. People interested in volunteering to help build the equipment can contact Gina at Community Bank.

Steve Reinert has volunteered to build the donor kiosk and it should be up soon. We’re still looking for volunteers to help us design the donor boards.

Nicki, Kelly and Kristina have applied for three grants and will continue to apply for several more to fund the splash pad.

Agenda item: Community area map

The committee discussed a few edits that we would like the county to make. Kristina will inquire if they are willing. Once the map is complete, we’ll ask the Village of Grantsburg to upload the map to their website so businesses and visitors can print it from there or download it.

The Renewal Committee will meet next on August 8 at 3:00 p.m., Grantsburg Public Library.
