Minutes

Agenda item: Grantsburg area map project

We looked at final edits for the Grantsburg Village and Grantsburg Area map. Kristina will ask Tracy Klatt at the County Land Information office if she would be willing to make the changes. Once the maps are complete we hope to have the maps loaded to the GRO website and the Village Website for people to download and print. We’ll also send a copy to the Sentinel office so businesses that wish to order multiple copies can ask the Sentinel to print them.

Agenda item: 3rd Thursday idea from Nick Hallberg

Nick brought an idea of a reoccurring vendor fair to GRO. GRO likes the idea and would like to get something going on a small scale during Big Gust Day in 2020.

Agenda item: Homecoming parade route

The school contacted Nicki in regards to the Homecoming parade route set for October. They’re concerned that the downtown construction affect the route. Kelly will ask Chris Bartlett to keep the school up to date with downtown construction and adjust the route as needed.

Agenda item: Downtown projects

Kristina said that three benches have been donated to be placed downtown after construction. The donors are The Jensen Foundation, Community Bank and the Gary Nelson Family. Funds for these benches will be matched in the Community Development Block Grant.

Nicki saw an idea on the Connect Communities platform to use vinyl art to dress-up vacant businesses’ windows in the downtown. It was suggested that GRO members inquire with the art and tech-ed instructors at the high school. Perhaps they have students that might like to create the artwork.

GRO continues to work with Todd Johnson of UW Extension to create a façade improvement plan for the downtown. Todd suggested our next step will be to gather input from the whole community via an online survey.

Agenda item: Community Outdoor Recreation area

Kelly gave us a progress report on the COR project. The kiosk that Steve Reinert has been constructed and is in place. Deano Schultz will begin installing the fitness equipment shortly. The committee will be meeting with the Packers Foundation to discuss a grant for the project.Other business
