Here are some quick notes from our last meeting, held on June 12:

· We decided to finalize our group’s name: Grantsburg Revitalization Operation (GRO) and Nicki will be putting together a website with domain name www.GRO.today
· Our thoughts for upcoming meetings – have simple agendas, take good notes and schedule them every other month
· There was talk about a strategic plan, and the possibility of the Village having one?? Glenn can you look into?
· We thought the painting of fire hydrants could be a quick first step to show we are doing something. Anyone interested in heading this up? It could be a money raiser for our group to get some starting funds. Maybe groups/businesses “adopt” a fire hydrant for $50 and decorate it. We should develop a map of where the hydrants are, mark who has sponsored them and post on our future website. The person heading this up could also seek funding/donations from Valspar / Walmart to help groups pay for supplies.
· Reach out to those who signed up to thank them and let them know that we are in the beginning stages of defining next steps. Perhaps gauge their interest level and tell them of the small committees we are developing to see if they want to be one one:
o Natural Resources, Downtown, Marketing/Branding, Highway 70
o I’ve attached a picture of the sign up sheet that had people’s names on it. Can we get a volunteer to contact them? Or if you know a few people on the list, reply to everyone on our committee with the names of those you don’t mind contacting and we’ll get it split up that way.
· We discussed the Lions Club building and how they might be interested in selling the building. It was mentioned that we should present at an upcoming meeting of theirs and show them some of the visions from the Design Team and what the building could be used for. Perhaps they would be interested in gifting the building to our group. It could be our “Welcome” center with rentals, café/coffee, ice cream, tourism information, etc.
· Trails – we need to follow up on the bike trail map. The Burnett County biking club was going to ride the routes, and I believe others were going to as well, but haven’t heard back.
· Marshland Center – discussion around the tearing down of this building vs trying to save it. Question is, what would we use it for? Steve H. was going to draft a letter and Gordy was going to submit it to Sean Duffy – telling our reps about the National Heritage Foundation. Keeping Chris Stein in the loop and getting his feedback first is also important. Steve/Gordy, do you have a follow up?
· Laminated copies of the drawings were delivered to the Village. Glenn, do you know if these have been hung up yet? Once they are, we thought we could have an open house inviting the public to the Village to view the drawings and continue the momentum.
