1)General:

Jerry said he would check with Niki P. and Alyssa about the proceedure to select someone to lead the NR comm. and then report back to everyone by e-mail. No one on the comm. (at least presently) is interested on being comm. chair.

2)Native plantings:

Pam gave an update on plantings and nothing needs to be done right now.
She would like some additional volunteers in the future when some of the work can be done. Julie mentioned she loves to dig in the dirt and could help with stuff.

3)Trails:

Rod gave an update on trails.

4)Discussion on an idea:

There was a fair amount of discussion about having the GRO comm as a group approach the village board for a commitment of 10 hours per month from the village crew to help with various projects. These could be projects under our NR comm. or others. If this was agreeable to the board then the GRO comm would need to set prioriites to avoid the village crew from being approached by too many different people requesting help. This would also let the village crew know they have the blessing of the Village Board to provide help to promote Grantsburg GRO projects. I believe Steve Hoffman said he would pass this suggestion on and others suggested they would attend the next GRO meeting if they were informed when and where it will be.

4)Wood River:

We set three dates for late spring and early summer with the eye toward having the river completely open for the 2016 season.

Wednesday May 25th – From Hwy 70 again to Raspberry Landing.

This is primarily to be sure what we opened last year is in fact still
open, take care of reports of known trees that have come down since last
season (near Dave Dahlberg’s as one example).

We will need canoes and kayaks for this and we can work out these
details later.

Wednesday June 1st – At the Rod and Gun club only (walk and drive in
only not boats needed)

This is the day that we will focus on the main blockages around the Rod
and Gun club. We will plan to do all the work without the use of boats
on this day. Everyone should recruit at least one other volunteer to
help on this date.

Steve Hoffman is working with Chris B. (village) and Dan H. (DNR) on a
draw down of the Wood River for this one work day. See the e-mail at the
bottom of this string.

Bob Hartshorn to let the Rod and Gun club folks know of this date and
they agreed to close the range to any use that day.

Tuesday June 7th-Memory Lake to Hwy 70

If all goes well on our other two dates this may be the last work day
we need to “declare” the river open for 2016 anyway. This would be the
trip we would erect the signs just before and along the Gun Club
property.

Rod and Gun club signs – Bob Hartshorn will work on getting the signs
ordered and figure out how they will be paid for prior to our next
meeting. The gun club folks did agree to pay for and or provide the
generic No Trespassing signs that will also go along the length of their
property. Hartshorn will coordinate this as well.

5) Next meeting:

Friday March 11 – Noon at the Wake-up call
